The La Sportiva TX4 Evo Women’s approach shoes are a fantastic mix of hiking comfort and technical performance, crafted specifically for those tricky approaches, scrambling, and confidently navigating mixed terrain.
Building on the success of the beloved TX4, the Evo version keeps many of the original features while introducing some thoughtful enhancements for durability, sustainability, and all-day comfort.
One of the standout features of the TX4 Evo is its incredible grip. The Vibram® MegaGrip outsole, complete with a climbing zone at the toe, provides exceptional traction on rocky surfaces, making it ideal for scrambling and confidently traversing both wet and dry Lake District rock. The sticky rubber performs well even on slick rock, and the stable platform gives you that extra edge when edging or crossing challenging ground.
Another highlight is the impressive build quality and protection. The full rubber rand hugs your foot securely, shielding it from sharp rocks and scree.
I find the fit both comfortable and supportive, thanks to a precision lacing system that extends all the way to the toe, allowing for those all-important micro-adjustments. This ensures a snug feel, even when tackling steeper terrain or light climbing.
La Sportiva has also prioritised sustainability with this update, incorporating resoleable construction and recycled materials in the midsole and footbed.
Despite its many strengths, the TX4 Evo does have a few drawbacks. It’s not waterproof, so it’s best suited for dry days or areas without significant bogs or stream crossings. The leather, while durable, can soak up moisture and become heavy when wet. While the leather upper isn’t waterproof, I do personally think that it strikes a great balance between breathability and abrasion resistance—perfect for those dry, sunny days in the Lakes when overheating can be more of a concern than rain!
